Image Four

The abandoned bridge skeleton on the outskirts of town. You can see the muddy waterhole in the lower right hand corner. Can you see how thick the scrub is on the other side where Scott hides his motorbike under the bridge while he climbs across to jog into town? It doesn't look like it in this image, but an intersection at the top end of town is only a quick jog up the line (chased by mozzies!) Hard to find in the dark, so it's a good thing that mud hole stinks a mile away!

Rrrrribbett! What other sounds would you hear on a smelly riverbank after dark?Have you ever seen a wallaby trail through long grass? It's like slithering through a grass tunnel like a snake! Bleccchhh! This little dog can't get across. Half the bridge pylons have been pulled down!HELP!!!!!!! I'm stuck in the mud!!!!Ewww yuck, mate! You stink! We're not pulling you out!

Mmmmm... yummy flesh and blood! If u go this way to town, the mosquitoes will eat you alive - or dead!
Secret Writing Tip: Creative ideas can hit you at any time. Use a blank page in the back of your homework diary to keep notes of things you'd like to explore later.

Class Project

Have you ever been on a field trip to your local creek or river? If so, then write a list of ten creatures you'd find living under rocks, in water, in grass or in trees. Then change their colours and give them magical powers, or extra limbs, eyes or heads. Give them strange names too. Set your story in a weird coloured gully on another planet and write a play that you can act out in class or with friends during play time.

Secret tip: Science and Mathematics often seem boring and repetitive BUT they can be heaps more fun once you learn to think creatively.

Science Experiment

Collect 1/2 a jar of clean looking water from your local creek, pond or river. Seal it with a lid and see what "invisible" creatures, plants or slime grow by the end of the month.
