Class Project

Go out into the school grounds and look at all the neighbouring properties. Choose the scariest or most innocent looking house, yard or building and then write a short scary story about a crime that happens there, using your teacher, principal and school gardener as victims, under-cover agents or heroes.

Secret tip: Science and Mathematics often seem boring and repetitive BUT they can be heaps more fun once you learn to think creatively.

Science Experiment

Turn your analog watch into a compass by going out into the playground. Using a watch with hands, NOT a digital watch, point the number 12 at the sun and then using a thin twig, paperclip or twist-tie, make a shadow that passes from the number 12 to the number 6. Look at the number half way between 12 and the hour hand - and that will be north.

NOTE: This only works here in the southern hemisphere. The trick in the northern hemisphere is to point the hour hand towards the sun and then the direction halfway between 12 and the hour hand is south.
