What's the inside info about your life as a writer?
I write every morning from 8 until midday or perhaps a little later. One
>day a week I teach creative writing to adult students. I enjoy visiting
>schools and talking to kids about what I do. In turn they tell me lots
>about themelves, their hobbies and what interests them. I love going to the
>movies and eating chocolate.

Do you have another job as well as being a writer?

No. I don't any more. I used to teach high school kids English and History.

Why do you love to write?

Writing is something I do because I HAVE to. Sometimes I love what I do,
>and sometimes I hate it. depends on how many ideas I have and how quickly
>they flow.

What inspired you to write your book (or series which includes this book)

1. Cowpat$: I think a farmers life is hard. But I also think some paintings
>aren't to everyone's taste.

What surprised you during research, writing or publishing of this book?
1. Cowpat$. It seemed to take a long time for any publisher to understand
>the joke behind the story. or maybe they didn't approve.

Redraft. rewrite. read aloud. rewrite. put it away. then rewrite and redit.

My work always needs lots of editing. often what I write can be said in
>less words and be much simpler. I always do lots of drafts.

When you were aged 8 to 15, what job(s) did you think you would have (if not a writer):

I would have liked to be a famous movie star or a great pianist. But in my
>more sensible moments, I thought I ight be a librarian as I loved reading.
